FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Peterborough Players to Hold Auditions and Interviews
Equity, Non-Equity, and Students Welcome

Peterborough, NH (February 22, 2012) – The Peterborough Players will hold auditions and interviews for the 2012 season from 7:30 to 10:00 PM Thursday, March 8 and from 12:00 Noon to 3 PM Friday, March 9. Artistic Director Gus Kaikkonen will see auditions from members of Actors’ Equity, non-Equity local actors, and from those interested in joining the Playerss’ Second Company as an intern or apprentice.

Equity members should prepare two contrasting monologues. The audition will be a general one for the entire season, not necessarily for specific roles. Non-Equity actors who are not interested in a season-long internship or apprenticeship will audition for possible supporting roles in the Players’ production of The Admirable Crichton. Rehearsals for The Admirable Crichton start July 19 and performances run August 1 to August 12. Non-Equity actors should have at least one monologue prepared (memorized is preferred but not necessary), be ready to read from a script, and be prepared to sing something a cappella.

The Second Company is comprised of interns and apprentices who make a minimum 12-week commitment to the Players’ season. Intern actors will perform in the two Second Company plays, and many will play a supporting role in at least one of the subscription series plays. In addition, Second Company members work in the various technical shops and offices, and serve on run crews. Work begins for the Second Company on June 7, 2012. Those interested in the Second Company should prepare two contrasting monologues and be prepared to sing something a cappella. In addition to auditions for Second Company actors, interviews will be held for those interested in technical or administrative internships or apprenticeships.

The 2012 subscription season consists of Auld Lang Syne; I Do I Do; The 39 Steps; The Admirable Crichton; Present Laughter; Rounding Third; and Say Goodnight, Gracie. The Second Company productions include A Duck Called Ugly (an adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling by Catherine Gray) and Little Men (a new adaptation of the Louisa May Alcott book by Gus Kaikkonen). The season is subject to change pending availability. Information on the plays can be found on the Players’ website, www.peterboroughplayers.org.

Scripts are available for perusal at the Players office. Auditions are by appointment only. To schedule a time or to obtain further information, call 603-924-9344.
